Navi Mumbai station transfer puts three stations under CR
25.06.2026
The Navi Mumbai station transfer has formally moved Targhar, Bamandongari and Kharkopar railway stations on the Seawood-Belapur-Uran line, also known as the Port line, from the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) to Central Railway.

Central Railway takes over three stations
The handover was carried out by Ashwin Mudgal in the presence of Naresh Mhaske, a member of the Railway Coordination Committee. It covered the three station buildings and the associated infrastructure developed by CIDCO for the Navi Mumbai rail corridor.
The transferred assets include forecourt areas, commuter parking facilities, electrical substations, telecom systems and other supporting railway infrastructure. Central Railway will now take responsibility for station operations, maintenance, passenger safety and service management at Targhar, Bamandongari and Kharkopar.
CIDCO role in Navi Mumbai rail infrastructure
Mudgal said:
“CIDCO has played a significant role in developing railway infrastructure in Navi Mumbai. The transfer of these railway stations and associated infrastructure to CR will contribute towards more efficient station management,”
The handover concerns stations on a corridor that forms part of Navi Mumbai’s wider suburban rail development. CIDCO describes the city’s railway system as a joint project with Indian Railways, with CIDCO investing 67% and Railways 33%, and says the network includes six routes and 30 stations. The Seawoods / Nerul-Kharkopar section was opened in November 2018, while the Uran-Kharkopar phase later extended suburban services from Nerul / Belapur and Kharkopar to Uran.
The transfer is expected to bring the three stations under unified railway administration and improve operational efficiency for commuters using the Navi Mumbai suburban rail network.
