The rollout expands digital metro ticket booking. It covers the two lines. An instant 50% discount, capped at Rs. 10, applies to bookings made through the app. At the same time, the paperless format is meant to encourage digital use. The booking remains paperless. It also aims to reduce queues, lessen reliance on physical counters, and improve efficiency.

Mumbai Metro Uber integration and last-mile connectivity

Metro tickets for Lines 2A and 7 are now available on Uber. The booking uses QR-code ticketing. Meanwhile, the platform supports journey planning across the first and last parts of a trip. Still, the aim is to cut waiting time and strengthen last-mile connectivity.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri. Devendra Fadnavis said: “Our vision is to make Mumbai’s public transport more integrated, accessible, and commuter friendly. This initiative ensures that every Mumbaikar can plan their journey seamlessly, with strong last-mile connectivity. Through ONDC and digital platforms like Uber, we are strengthening Maharashtra’s digital public infrastructure and delivering convenience at scale.”

Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, said: “This initiative is a significant milestone in building a unified, multimodal transport ecosystem for Mumbai. It simplifies access and enhances commuter convenience through digital integration. With multiple platforms, including Uber, Mumbai One App, and WhatsApp ticketing, we are ensuring that Metro services are accessible anytime, anywhere. | am happy to share that nearly 72% of tickets on Metro Lines 2A and 7 are booked through digital apps and the Mumbai One Card, making travel largely paperless and contributing positively to environmental sustainability.”

ONDC platforms and the wider Mumbai mobility network

Mumbai already has several integrated mobility tools in place. The Mumbai One App combines suburban rail, metro, bus, and monorail services on one platform. For example, commuters can also book tickets through WhatsApp. The Mumbai One Card (NCMC) supports cashless travel across different modes of transport.

The Metro ticketing ecosystem is also available on Yatri, Ixigo, Navi, and RedBus. In addition, Uber now joins that list. It gives passengers another booking channel within the same digital ecosystem.

Separately, authorities are improving first- and last-mile connectivity around stations. That work includes enhanced BEST bus services, foot overbridges, and better parking facilities.

Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7 currently serve more than 3.5 lakh passengers a day. Meanwhile, the network is expected to expand with Lines 2B and 9. They will also be integrated into the same system. More platforms are expected to join ONDC as the network expands. Mumbai is set to become a model for seamless, technology-driven public transportation in India.

Overall, the initiative reflects Mumbai’s broader push for a sustainable, digitally empowered transport network. By bringing multiple services together on accessible platforms, the city is reshaping daily commuting.
