How to Request an MTA Delay Verification Note?

Securing an official note requires completing a “Subway and Bus Delay Verification” form. The MTA offers this service online, making it easy for commuters to access.

The form requests essential trip details, including transit routes, delay duration, and travel date. An optional comments section allows users to provide feedback or additional context.

After submission, you will receive a confirmation email acknowledging your request. The MTA then reviews the information and responds within three business days.

Once approved, you’ll receive an email with the delay verification note. You can print or forward it to your employer, offering official proof of transit-related tardiness.

MTA Delay Verification Eligibility and Requirements

Not every delay qualifies for an official note, as the MTA sets specific criteria. Only disruptions exceeding 10 minutes within the past 180 days are eligible for verification.

If your delay occurred further back, MTA customer service at 511 may provide assistance. This ensures commuters have the necessary proof for work or school-related delays.
