Due to better coordination and nimble management, the organization has managed to merge different contracts for infrastructural projects into one simplified process. The project has been praised by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the MTA, Janno Lieber, who asserted that:

Commuters can now easily move between platforms and street level. The crew has constructed 14 new staircases, widened 24 others, and replaced 10 escalators to ease congestion experienced during rush hours.

MTA Strengthens Accessibility and Passenger Experience

The MTA has installed a new elevator from street to mezzanine to satisfy current accessibility requirements and upgraded three others from mezzanine to platforms, in addition to improving communications and safety in the station.

Workers installed new fare turnstiles with 30 new fares, upgraded firefighting equipment, security equipment, and installed public-address speakers and directional signs to enhance information flow. Such enhancements ensure the station becomes more intuitive and efficient.

Construction company Skanska has completed work on an additional pedestrian tunnel connecting Grand Central Terminal to the 7 Line platform Park Avenue tunnel project. The new $74.2 million tunnel has been in operation since February this year.

These individual enhancements collectively demonstrate the power of thoughtful investment and Federal engagement to improve urban mobility while earning public trust through responsible management practices.
