CRRC Monorail Train in Panda Design Unveiled in Chongqing
07.07.2025
In the city of Chongqing, CRRC introduced an innovative eight-car monorail train styled after the giant panda, one of China’s national symbols. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The company plans to launch the train in the second half of the year, marking a new milestone in urban transit development.
Comfort and Smart Technology Onboard
Engineers equipped the cabin with 92 seats that rotate 180 degrees, offering passengers added comfort and flexibility. Each car can accommodate over 200 people. The train features intelligent, energy-efficient lighting and air conditioning systems with automatic controls.

For the first time in monorail transit, the windows are made of photochromic glass, capable of blocking 99% of UV rays. Moreover, the windows are embedded with touchscreens and dimming functions.
To reduce weight and increase durability, many body components are made of carbon fiber. This not only improves energy efficiency but also reduces wear and tear during operation.
A Versatile Platform with Predictive Maintenance
The new platform, which serves as the basis for the CRRC monorail train in panda design, is suitable for various monorail systems.
It includes permanent magnet traction motors and high-frequency auxiliary inverters. Additionally, a predictive diagnostics system monitors component conditions in real time, helping to cut maintenance costs by 30%.
Overall, the CRRC monorail train in panda design combines advanced technology, environmental responsibility, and cultural appeal. CRRC is betting on smart, visually engaging solutions that are set to reshape public transportation in China’s major cities.
