UP Express service disruption ended after a Monday morning equipment problem west of Union Station, when trains were temporarily unable to serve the station in either direction. Metrolinx said service between Toronto International Airport and Union Station has resumed.

UP Express disruption and alternate travel options

During the interruption, GO Express buses carried passengers between the airport and Union Station, the route shown on the official UP Express stations page. The problem also affected other parts of the regional network, with significant delays reported on the Kitchener GO and Barrie GO lines.

Several scheduled trains were cancelled while the disruption was being handled. For passengers checking the wider network, GO Transit maintains an official service updates page covering delays, cancellations and related trip information.

Metrolinx thanks passengers and TTC

In a statement to CTV News, Metrolinx said the delay followed an “equipment issue” that caused a train to move under its own power and block one of the tracks. Metrolinx, which lists GO Transit and UP Express among its service brands, thanked customers for their patience and also thanked the TTC for helping provide alternate travel options while regular service was affected.
