The MARTA Breeze fare system will move to an updated version on March 28. According to a MARTA press release, the improved system will introduce tap-to-pay technology. Also, riders will be able to pay directly at faregates with bank cards or mobile wallets.

In addition, the update includes new touchscreen ticket vending machines. Meanwhile, it also includes more secure faregates at MARTA transit-rail stations. Separately, MARTA will also introduce new Breeze cards and an app.

Transition period for old and new Breeze systems

Meanwhile, both the old and new Breeze systems will remain in use from March 28 to May 2. MARTA notes this on its Better Breeze page. At the same time, riders will still be able to use old Breeze cards at existing fare equipment. Still, the old ticket vending machines will be turned off starting March 28.
