A major rail shutdown will occur in the Hunter Valley next week as ARTC undertakes essential maintenance and upgrades to strengthen the network and ensure long-term safety and efficiency. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The shutdown starts at 6:30 a.m. Monday, July 21, and ends at 6:30 a.m. Friday, July 25, between Scone and Turrawan. Crews will also work from July 22 to July 25 across Kooragang–Scone and Muswellbrook–Ulan.

Shutdown Schedule and Key Activities

ARTC crews will remove defects, improve track geometry, and replace worn components. Other tasks include track reconditioning, rerailing projects, and progress on the Cox’s Creek bridge replacement near Boggabri.
