The digital platform will enable passengers to access Etihad Rail services, including ticket purchasing and payments, once the system is operational. It will be a unified solution for managing all aspects of rail travel.
MaaS Solution Brings Innovation to UAE Rail Transport
The Etihad Rail Sales and Distribution System project aims to create efficient and eco-friendly transportation services. It will connect urban and rural areas of the UAE, offering a convenient booking system. As a result, passengers will be able to easily travel across the entire country.
The integration of MaaS by Hitachi Rail is a significant step forward for the UAE’s transportation system. This solution will help not only to improve transportation links within the country but also support the UAE’s commitment to sustainable development. Innovation and environmental responsibility are key components of this project.
Etihad Rail Mobility CEO, Nicholas Petrovich, noted that this solution will make travel across the country more accessible and comfortable. The digital platform will simplify transportation for millions of passengers and increase environmental responsibility.
The new system will provide the ability to travel between cities and regions. Passengers will be able to travel not only by rail but also use other transport modes for first and last mile connections. By 2030, Etihad Rail’s network is expected to serve up to 36.5 million passengers annually.
Hitachi Rail’s MaaS Solution Enhances Passenger Experience Across UAE
Hitachi Rail acts as the main contractor, assembling a team of experts to implement this project. As the primary integrator, the company will use its own developments and partner solutions. Their API architecture will integrate all systems into one comprehensive solution.
Once operational, the Etihad Rail system will connect 11 cities and regions in the UAE. This project will also become a key part of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) railway network, strengthening connections across the region.
Jean-Marc Reynaud, Vice President of Hitachi Rail RCS, highlighted that the project will contribute to improving transportation infrastructure and service quality for passengers in the UAE and beyond.
The agreement for the project was signed at the first Global Rail 2024 World Exhibition and Conference on Railway Infrastructure. During the event, Etihad Rail signed ten agreements aimed at developing its infrastructure and improving services.
