20.05.2024
LTG Cargo Ukraine, a subsidiary of LTG Cargo, plays a crucialrole as a comprehensive link between the Baltic countries and Ukraine. It is committed to providing the best possible support for Ukraine and its partners, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has beensigned with Ukrainian Railways to establish a new freight routeconnecting Klaipėda and Kyiv.
LTG Group plans to test the firstintermodal journeys this year, with the route eventually being usedfor regular cargo transportation.
This initiative aims not only to strengthen ties between Lithuania and Ukraine but also to leveragethe potential of railways, port terminals, and border crossings inboth countries.
Despite disrupted logistics chains due to the ongoing Russia’s warin Ukraine, LTG Cargo Ukraine trains efficiently cross the border—an essential aspect given the limited infrastructure at Ukrainianborder crossings.
“We transport grain, corn, fertilizers, and sunflower oil fromUkraine. Grain is transported in containers via theMostyska2/Medyka and Jagodin/Darohusk railway stations to theseaport in Klaipėda, while petroleum (gasoline) is transportedfrom Klaipėda, Mockava, and Riga to Ukraine. We also carryfertilizers, cardboard, plastic, animal feed, and paper to Ukraine, using various types of containers,” says Saulius Stasiūnas, CEO ofLTG Cargo Ukraine.
LTG Cargo Ukraine also provides wagon return services (graincontainers, tankers, semi-tankers) between the Baltic countriesand Ukraine.
“In the first quarter of this year, we managed to transport morethan 200 wagons from Ukraine to Lithuania. This achievement ispossible thanks to our efficient logistics network,” emphasizes Saulius Stasiūnas.
LTG Cargo Group continually expands its range of services.
It serves as an example of dynamic growth and expansion into newmarkets, contributing to increased competitiveness andtransportation services in the European market
