Danish operator Lokaltog, which provides local passenger transport on the islands of Zealand, Lolland, and Falster in Denmark, has selected Stadler as the contractor following a tender process, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

According to the contract terms, Stadler will deliver 14 battery-electric trains, with an option to purchase an additional 10 units.

The tender procedure was initiated in November 2023. Companies such as CAF, Siemens, and Stadler participated in the competition.

At the preliminary stage, proposals from CAF and Stadler were shortlisted, with Stadler emerging as the winner.

The final contract signing is scheduled for October 2024, pending approval of the terms with the Zealand regional authorities.

Lokaltog is part of the Movia transport company and operates a fleet of 61 trains serving nine regional routes.
