Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project: role of independent certifier

Working together in a joint venture, Jacobs and Arcadis have been selected by Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) — a decision reported by Railway-News — to ensure quality and compliance throughout the project’s design and construction phases. In their capacity as Project Independent Certifier, they will oversee the programme of works that is set to reshape this key South East Queensland rail network corridor.

Track doubling and removal of level crossings

In this role, the Jacobs–Arcadis team will supervise major upgrades along a 12.4-mile corridor, a development that has also been followed by Railway Supply. The scheme includes doubling the existing tracks from two to four and removing five level crossings — changes designed to expand capacity and enhance the passenger experience between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Jacobs Executive Vice President Keith Lawson said that being chosen for the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project reflects the trust placed in Jacobs’ and AJJV’s capability to deliver complex, high-impact infrastructure that leaves lasting benefits for the community.

In his view, their role will be pivotal in supporting a more connected, resilient and future-ready rail network for South East Queensland.
