15.11.2023
Liverpool Mayor Steve Rotheram is seeking compensation from train manufacturer Stadler due to the poor performance of the new Merseyrail Class 777 electric trains, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Despite promises of improvements from Stadler, reliability remains low, especially on the recently launched route to Headbolt Lane.

The mayor emphasized the need for immediate enhancements for passengers and stated that negotiations for appropriate compensation are underway.
The phasing out of the outdated Class 508 trains by December further intensifies the situation.
In response, Stadler acknowledged passenger disappointment, attributing issues to the advanced train technologies.
The company expressed readiness to swiftly overcome obstacles, highlighting the revolutionary nature of battery-electric trains designed for Liverpool’s network.
Nevertheless, Stadler maintains optimism about creating a reliable and innovative train fleet, collaborating with stakeholders.
The announcement of compensation discussions reflects the severity of the problem, as disruptions continue to impact passengers.
Both parties hope these issues will be resolved soon, providing passengers with a reliable and modern transportation system.
Meanwhile, a farewell rail tour for retiring Class 508 trains demonstrated passenger support, raising over £12,000 for local charities on October 29.
