Lithuanian Railways closes representative offices in Russia and Belarus
17.04.2022
Lithuanian Railways (LTG) are closing their representative offices in the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.

The railway magazine Railway Supply writes about this citing information from the company.
The report notes that such a decision was approved by the LTG Council.
“We strongly condemn the Russian war in Ukraine and are looking for ways to help the people of Ukraine who are fighting for freedom. The purpose of the representative office in Belarus and Russia was to cooperate and search for new contacts with business partners in these countries, but there were no opportunities for such contacts. Thus, the closure of representative offices is a necessary step,” said Egidius Lazauskas, CEO of LTG.
LTG offices in Russia and Belarus were established almost 10 years ago. Now the process of their elimination has begun, it can take up to six months.
It is noted that in March, the railway freight company LTG Group – LTG Cargo – banned the loading and transit of all general purpose wagons owned by the company to Belarus and the Russian Federation, as well as to other countries transiting through these countries.
“LTG Group enterprises strictly comply with the sanctions requirements: cargoes of companies included in the sanctions lists are not transported,” LTG stressed.
As reported, LTG Cargo Ukraine temporarily suspended its activities in Ukraine.
