Liebherr delivered the first HVAC systems for Stadler passenger coaches in Kazakhstan, designed to operate in harsh deserts and withstand freezing temperatures as low as –50°C. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

These advanced climate-control systems were jointly developed with Stadler to meet the demanding conditions of Kazakhstan’s railway network. Liebherr manufactured them at its facility in Pinghu, China, for installation in sleeping and double-berth coaches ordered by Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).

Liebherr Partnership with Stadler Strengthens Rail Modernization

Stadler Kazakhstan launched passenger coach production this spring at the Tulpar plant. In June, the company unveiled its first coach, marking progress in the country’s modernization program.

In 2025, Stadler Kazakhstan plans to build 51 coaches. By 2030, it will deliver 557 coaches to JSC Passenger Transportation, a KTZ subsidiary, under a program worth approximately $1.58 billion.

Liebherr Technology Designed for Extreme Conditions

The HVAC systems represent a technological breakthrough for rail operations in regions with extreme climates. By ensuring reliable temperature control, Liebherr contributes to both passenger comfort and operational safety.

Industry analysts see this project as a step toward advanced transport solutions in Central Asia. With growing demand for modern infrastructure, Kazakhstan is positioning itself as a hub for rail innovation, supported by international expertise.

By 2030, this partnership is expected to transform passenger travel standards, combining global engineering excellence with local production capabilities.
