The subsidiary of the Latvian railway conglomerate Latvijas dzelzceļš, LDZ Cargo, is actively working on expanding cargo transportation in Estonia and Lithuania, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

In January 2024, it marks a year since SIA ‘LDZ Cargo’ entered the Estonian railway transportation market.

Towards the end of the previous year, the company secured several public tenders, enabling a significant increase in domestic cargo volumes within Estonia this year.

In November of the past year, LDZ Cargo obtained the right to transport fuelwood for the Estonian state energy company Enefit Power, with an expected transportation volume of 100,000 tons.

At the year’s end, the Latvian carrier won another contract with Enefit Power for transporting 60,000 tons of gasoline.

As reported earlier, last year, the Latvian LDZ Cargo initiated freight transportation in Estonia.
