Kumbh 2031 railway infrastructure advances in Prayagraj

Kumbh 2031 railway infrastructure work in Prayagraj is moving forward under North Central Railway. The approved projects cover two main areas. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

NCR plans a new multi-storey holiday home for railway employees at Gaughat. It also plans the on redevelopment of Subedarganj Railway Station as a major satellite railway station. The works cover staff facilities and station access for passengers before the event.
According to The Times of India, railway officials said Rs 3.61 crore has been sanctioned for the Gaughat holiday home. Also, the tender process for that project has already begun. The facility is planned on land valued at nearly Rs 100 crore. The site had remained under encroachment for almost 50 years. It was recently cleared during a special anti-encroachment drive by the Railway administration.
NCR CPRO Shashikant Tripathi said the proposed facility will provide accommodation for railway personnel. Also, it will provide modern amenities. It is expected to support staff arrangements during Magh Mela and Maha Kumbh. For example, large numbers of railway employees are deployed in Prayagraj during those gatherings. Officials said the building will include several rooms, rest areas, drinking water facilities and toilets. It will also include other basic infrastructure for staff stays.
Kumbh 2031 railway infrastructure includes Subedarganj expansion
Meanwhile, preparations have started for the expansion of Subedarganj station before Kumbh 2031. Railway authorities have sanctioned Rs 13 crore for the project. It will increase the number of platforms from six to eight. Also, tenders for the construction work have been floated.
The two additional platforms are planned on the Sulemsarai side. They will sit next to the existing platform number six. In addition, the current railway lines numbered two and three will be shifted. This will enable the planned work. Officials expect the full redevelopment project to be completed within 18 months.
Platform changes and station access
After redevelopment, the platform structure and numbering will be revised. New platforms six and seven will be built toward the GT Road side. The present platform six will become platform eight. Railway authorities said platform alignment will be a key feature. All eight platforms will be in one clear line of visibility. In addition, a new foot over bridge will connect platforms 1 to 8. It will improve passenger movement and station accessibility.
