Kazakhstan requires $13 billion for the modernization of its railway industry

The head of Kazakhstan Railways, Nurlan Sauranbayev, stated that approximately 6 trillion tenge ($13 billion) will be needed over the next five years for the modernization, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Starting from 2022, the railway section ‘Dostyk – Moiynty’ will be upgraded, adding secondary tracks to increase capacity by five times.

Additionally, a railway line bypassing the former capital is under construction to alleviate 40% of the traffic at the Almaty hub and reduce transit cargo delivery times.
Sauranbayev also mentioned the upcoming launch of the ‘Darbaza – Maktaaral’ railway line in November and the planned start of construction for the ‘Bakhty – Ayagoz’ line in December to enhance freight flow towards China.
