Kanpur Metro expands with Efkon India E&M contract

The contract includes design, supply, installation, and commissioning of electrical and mechanical works. It covers diesel generators, environment control, tunnel ventilation, and building management systems for the Double Pulia, Kakadeo, and Rawatpur Railway Station underground metro stations.
Kanpur Metro contract bidding and financial overview
UPMRCL launched the tender earlier this year, and five firms submitted technical bids in April 2025. After multiple evaluation rounds, Efkon India emerged as the lowest bidder with a $19.7 million offer. Competitors included Blue Star ($21.2 million), Kalpataru Projects ($21.4 million), and Universal MEP ($27.8 million).
On November 7, 2025, Efkon India received formal approval, confirming its leadership in the national metro infrastructure sector. The company aims to implement high-efficiency systems to optimize reliability and energy use. Because energy performance and cost control are vital to metro operations, the project integrates intelligent management systems to reduce emissions and improve safety.
Experts view this milestone as part of a broader urban mobility transformation. The Kanpur Metro network continues to expand, promoting faster, greener, and safer public transport options.
