Investment Boosts China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Company’s Regional Connectivity Goals

The Kyrgyz government allocated $14 million to the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Company. This investment marks a significant step toward regional economic collaboration. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
This funding represents Kyrgyzstan’s contribution to the railway project’s authorized capital. The Ministry of Finance, following directives from the Parliament’s Committee on Budget, Economic, and Fiscal Policy, will oversee the fund allocation.
The allocated $14 million, adjusted according to the National Bank’s exchange rate, underscores Kyrgyzstan’s dedication to regional cooperation. This investment aims to enhance trade links and economic opportunity across Central Asia.

The joint railway company, established on September 28, 2024, is led by Zhou Xing, with foundational partners including Kyrgyz Temir Zholu National Company, Uzbekistan Temir Yollari JSC, and Beijing China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Company Limited.
Kyrgyzstan announced plans to invest 11 billion soms for the railway’s construction, with phased contributions from 2025 to 2027.
For 2025, the state will allocate 2.418 billion soms; in 2026, 4.291 billion soms; and in 2027, 4.374 billion soms. These sums, at current exchange rates, convert to approximately $28.67 million in 2025, $50.87 million in 2026, and $51.85 million in 2027.
Key Milestones and Partnership Goals for China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Company
A key agreement signed on June 6, 2024, between China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan solidified terms for financing and project goals. This agreement, ratified by the Kyrgyz Parliament on June 19, and signed by President Sadyr Japarov on June 27, 2024, was pivotal.
Construction officially began in October 2024, marking a transformative moment for regional trade and economic integration.
