InnoTrans 2024: Scale, Innovation, and Record Attendance

From September 24 to 27, 2024, Messe Berlin hosted the largest transport technology exhibition in its history — InnoTrans 2024. The event brought together 2,940 exhibitors from 59 countries, including first-time participants from Morocco, Malaysia, Indonesia, and South Africa. Their involvement further increased the event’s international scope.

Visitor numbers reached an all-time high of 170,000, significantly surpassing pre-pandemic figures. People from 133 countries came to Berlin to explore cutting-edge transport solutions. Organizers utilized every hall and outdoor space at the venue, including 3,500 meters of rail track for demonstrations.

Visitors experienced 133 rail vehicles live and tested 11 buses in motion on a 500-meter track in the Summer Garden. These practical displays made participation not only informative but also hands-on.

InnoTrans as a Platform for Sustainable and Digital Transport

Key themes at InnoTrans 2024 included digitalization, electrification, sustainability, and the integration of artificial intelligence. For the first time, the exhibition featured the AI Mobility Lab, where 42 companies from 17 countries showcased advanced solutions in AI, robotics, cybersecurity, and data analysis.

According to InnoTrans Director Kerstin Schulz, the industry showed great interest in AI-based technologies. She emphasized that organizers responded at the right time by prioritizing modern digital innovations.

The trade fair introduced 226 world premieres. Exhibitors presented their developments across five segments: Railway Technology, Railway Infrastructure, Public Transport, Interiors, and Tunnel Construction. New trains, autonomous systems, energy-efficient solutions, and digital platforms drew the attention of experts, operators, investors, and the media.

Michael Peter, CEO of Siemens Mobility, stated that InnoTrans once again proved its value as a global communications platform. He noted that Siemens presented solutions powered by Siemens Xcelerator, a digital ecosystem that connects data from equipment, operators, and partners. This allowed the company to demonstrate how its technologies make rail transport more accessible, sustainable, and cost-effective.

A defining feature of InnoTrans is its focus on face-to-face interaction and real-world demonstrations. The event enables businesses not only to present their innovations but also to form strategic partnerships.

The exhibition is organized by Messe Berlin GmbH. The next edition of InnoTrans will take place from September 22 to 25, 2026, in Berlin, once again bringing together transport industry leaders to shape the future of mobility.
