Crews tackled tasks in Wangaratta, Euroa, Benalla, Tallarook, Seymour, Wandong, and Broadford. Each site saw improvements, so freight capacity and safety increased significantly.

Wangaratta celebrates a new pedestrian underpass at its bustling railway station now. Nearby, workers dismantled the Docker St footbridge, enhancing local accessibility quickly.

Benalla bids farewell to its old signal box after careful salvage efforts. Crews relocated the station’s power supply, and operations continued smoothly thereafter.

Inland Rail Enhances Victoria Infrastructure

Euroa prepares for detours by upgrading the Birkett Street level crossing infrastructure. Teams widened roads, replaced ballast, and installed new rails for efficiency.

Broadford, Wandong, and Hume Freeway sites buzz with preparatory construction activity. Geotechnical surveys, vegetation clearing, and safety barriers pave the way forward.

John Holland, a key construction partner, reports impressive figures from the shutdown. They excavated 2,607 square meters of soil, and installed 110 meters of rail.

Additionally, workers set up 886 meters of fencing and concrete barriers swiftly. They commissioned 800 meters of cable, so connectivity improved across sites.

Inland Rail Targets Freight Future

Teams installed 170 new sleepers, two boom gates, and flashing lights efficiently. Six redundant power poles vanished, and 41 monitoring devices now ensure safety.

Inland Rail paused services from Saturday 7am to Monday 7pm for upgrades. This 60-hour window allowed crews to transform 262 kilometers of track effectively.

Victoria’s Beveridge-Albury route gains height and width for double-stacked freight trains. These upgrades promise faster shipping, and businesses eagerly await the benefits.

Ed Walker, Delivery Director, praises the shutdown’s flawless execution proudly every time. He notes crews finished safely, so trains rolled again on schedule Monday.

Only two major track possessions occur yearly, making each one absolutely vital. Thorough planning ensures big wins in short timeframes, and disruptions stay minimal.

Local communities endure brief interruptions, yet the project appreciates their ongoing patience. This effort strides toward completion, and Victoria’s freight future shines bright.
