Construction of the railway

This was reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to the State Enterprise “National Company Kyrgyz Temir Zholu”

The planned length of the railway is 186.3 km and is divided into 2 sections:

1. Balykchi-Kochkor section, total length is about 63 km.
2. Kochkor-Kara-Keche section, total length is about 124 km.

The first stage of this project is planned to begin construction on the Balykchi-Kochkor section, about 63 km long.

Supply of locomotives and wagons for Kyrgyz temir zhol

The company has signed an agreement with the State Enterprise Scientific and Technical Center “Technopark” KDUSTA to develop a feasibility study for the project.

On February 2, 2022, a joint visit of the working group of Kyrgyz Temir Zhol and the developers of the feasibility study to the site to study the probable route of the railway.

The Balikçi-Kochkor-Kara-Keche railway project will allow coal to be transported from the Kara-Keche deposit to the Bishkek CHP and other northern regions of the country by rail. In the perspective of railway development in the Kyrgyz Republic, this section will connect the northern and southern regions of the country.
