Company Siemens Mobility signed a deal with Indian Railways in 2023 year. And this project worth $3.2 billion provides for delivering 1200 freight locomotives.
Mainline locomotive EF-9K with axle formula 3o-3o generates power of 6.6 megawatts. Because it hauls trains weighing 4500 tons at speeds of 75 kilometers per hour.
Assembly takes place at Indian Railways depot built nearly hundred years ago. Siemens actively upgrades the site, expanding its capacity for producing new machines.
