Indian Railways and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Corridor
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) is India’s first bullet train project. It will connect Mumbai and Ahmedabad, covering 508 kilometers and achieving speeds of 320 km/h.

This corridor incorporates 12 stations, including Surat and Vadodara. Indian Railways partnered with Japan to bring advanced Shinkansen technology to the project. This collaboration also supports the “Make in India” initiative, emphasizing technology transfer.
Major milestones in construction have been achieved. Over 336 kilometers of pier foundations and 331 kilometers of pier structures have been completed. Additionally, 260 kilometers of girders have been cast and 225 kilometers launched. Notably, the development of a 21-kilometer undersea tunnel is underway. Once operational, this will be India’s first undersea rail link.
