Hyperloop in India: BEML and TuTr Partner for a Transport Breakthrough
13.08.2025
Hyperloop in India is advancing through BEML and TuTr’s partnership, as they develop a prototype, test technologies, and prepare to scale them for integration into the national transport system. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Hyperloop Development in India Gains Momentum
State-owned corporation BEML and startup TuTr Hyperloop have signed a memorandum of understanding to accelerate the development, production, and commercialization of a high-speed transport system.

The companies aim to build a full-scale prototype, test it under controlled conditions, and integrate the project into India’s transport infrastructure. They also plan to engage local suppliers to strengthen domestic industry.
In December last year, India completed construction of its first 410-meter vacuum track. The project, supported by the Ministry of Railways, received funding of ₹83 million ($1 million) from Indian Railways.
Hyperloop as an Alternative to High-Speed Rail
Construction of the section was carried out by L&T Construction, ArcelorMittal, ArcelorMittal Design and Engineering Centre, and Hindalco Industries. The tube design was handled by the Avishkar Hyperloop team in collaboration with TuTr Hyperloop.
The Garuda Vahaan vacuum maglev prototype is being developed by TuTr in partnership with Indian Railways, as the project requires a combination of innovative solutions and railway sector expertise.
If tests are successful, the line will connect Mumbai and Pune, providing fast and energy-efficient transport. The technology is suitable for both passenger and freight transportation, reducing costs and emissions.
India aims to become a leader in transport innovation, and Hyperloop could play a key role in modernizing infrastructure. The involvement of BEML, university startups, and major industrial players provides a strong foundation for long-term project implementation.
