29.01.2026
Hitachi technologies for Sydney Metro West are set to play a central role in the delivery of advanced systems for the new 24-kilometre underground metro line linking Greater Parramatta with Sydney’s Central Business District (CBD), as outlined in the Sydney Metro West project overview.

Hitachi Rail says it has won a contract to supply all Central Control Systems (CCS) and Integrated Communications (iCOM) for the Sydney Metro West project, as reported by Railway-News. The company will deliver this package as a subcontractor to the Metro Trains West Consortium, a joint venture between MTR Corporation and CRRC Corporation Limited.

The rail systems being supplied are intended to support seamless operations and strengthen passenger connectivity across the new underground corridor.
Sarfaraz Samnakay, Managing Director at Hitachi Rail ANZ, described the award as a significant achievement for the local team. He said it continues the deployment of technologies that have also been delivered for Sydney Metro Northwest, City and Southwest, and added that Hitachi Rail is pleased to keep contributing state-of-the-art capabilities to Sydney Metro, supporting the goal of a world-class metro service for Sydney commuters.
Project leaders have recently awarded a set of four large contracts to companies working on the Sydney Metro West project. The scope is expected to include track delivery, rail systems installation, construction of maintenance facilities, design, rolling stock and other associated works, as covered by Railway Supply.
