Hitachi Rail to Install Traffic Management System in Sweden
Hitachi Rail is working with the Swedish Transport Authority (Trafikverket) to install a second level ERTMS on a section of the Malmbanen line. The work is being carried out as part of a railway digitalization program, on a 140-kilometer single-track line between Gallivare and Boden. The modernization project includes 14 stations, informs Railway Supply magazine with a link to railway-news.com.

The Malmbanen Line runs from Boden to Riksgransen and is a part of the route between the port of Luleå (Sweden) on the Baltic Sea and the port of Narvik (Norway) on the Norwegian Sea. The Gallivare – Boden section crosses the Arctic Circle.
Hitachi Rail began its partnership with Trafikverket in 2008 when it started deploying ERTMS technology on the Haparandabanen line as a pilot project.
