Hitachi Rail Joins Forces with Railway 200 for Nationwide Festivity

Hitachi Rail joined forces with Railway 200, S&DR200, LNER, and Arriva in marking the bicentenary of passenger rail in Britain. The collaborative event supported highlighting the ways in which innovation continues to redefine transportation andfortify local economies.

The Railway 200 “Inspiration” exhibition train provided interactive exhibits that advocated career prospects and green projects on a 60-stop national train tour. And since education is the core of the program, guests learned what current technology achieves on the next generation of mobility.

“Hitachi Rail’s event beautifully balances history with future,” stated Programme Manager for Railway 200, Emma Roberts. “It gives everyone a kick to see how the rail continues to develop and build communities and economies.”

Jim Brewin also observed that the open day was also on the tenth anniversary of Newton Aycliffe’s return to train building, which again demonstrates that innovation on the railways continues in the North East.

Emma Roberts and Niccy Halifax of S&DR200 highlighted that the occasion brought together heritage and latest technology, and that’s how much the industry has progressed — and that’s why it’s crucial for area development even to this day.
