The Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Program of the Federal Railroad Administration of the United States has awarded an $11.6 million grant to support the replacement of three old locomotives with higher emissions levels at the CSX facility in Curtis Bay at the Port of Baltimore with battery electric locomotives and a charging station, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.

CSX will own and operate the locomotives and provide 50% of the funding.
