Grain Hopper Transportation by LTG Cargo Ukraine to Lithuania
11.10.2024
LTG Cargo Ukraine successfully organized the transportation of the first 20 grain hoppers to Lithuania. This shipment is part of a total of 500 hoppers, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
These hoppers, sent from Ukraine’s largest railcar manufacturing plant, are designed to transport various grain types. Their 116 m³ capacity ensures efficient loading, allowing for maximum payload utilization and reduced costs. The company leverages international grain transport to enhance its operations.

The switch from 1520 mm gauge to the European 1435 mm gauge occurred at the Polish station of Sędziszów. After that, the grain hoppers proceeded to the Šeštokai station in Lithuania, where they will be used to transport grain efficiently across borders.
Rail freight grain hoppers are in high demand due to the growing need for transporting grain by rail across Europe. Renting grain hoppers for international transport helps maintain steady agricultural exports to countries like Lithuania.
LTG Cargo continues expanding its collaboration with Lithuanian partners, and more than half of the total hoppers are expected to arrive in Lithuania by year-end. This demonstrates the crucial role of rail freight in supporting international grain shipments.
