17.01.2024
The hybrid firefighting and rescue train, Servicejet, from Stadler, has entered testing, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
In mid-December 2023, the Swiss manufacturer handed over the first of 18 three-car trains for testing, ordered by the Austrian infrastructure operator OBB-Infrastruktur several years ago.
The machine is set to undergo certification this year and will be operational on the 130 km line between Klagenfurt and Graz, expected to open at the end of 2025.
The leading car of the OBB train was showcased last autumn.
Servicejet can operate bidirectionally at speeds of up to 160 km/h in three traction modes. It can evacuate up to 324 people, tow a train weighing up to 2000 tons, and provide power to a malfunctioning train.
Stadler had not previously produced such rolling stock.
