Gender equality on the railways!
15.10.2021
On September 20 this year, the 68th General Assembly of the CER (Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Enterprises) took place. The theme of the meeting was the promotion of gender equality and diversity in this transport sector. The unanimously adopted agreement on women in rail transport is the first such autonomous document at the European level.

Соглашение, принятое CER, должно охватывать несколько областей, связанных с работой женщин на железнодорожном транспорте, сообщает железнодорожный журнал Railway Supply cо ссылкой на Rynek Kolejowy.
The agreement, adopted by the CER, should cover several areas related to the work of women in railway transport, informs railway magazine Railway Supply, citing Rynek Kolejowy.
Much attention should be paid to promoting the professional development of women employees from the moment they are hired until they reach a significant position in management structures.

Assembly participants emphasized that the railway sector can also define paths of social equality for other groups of enterprises or industries where the proportion of women in the workforce is constantly increasing. The agreement is also a clear signal to future employees that the railway can be an attractive employer.
The text of the agreement must now be approved by the ETF, the European Transport Workers’ Federation. It will vote for the agreement at the end of October.
