Lansdowne Road closure will begin later this week as CSX closes Route 638. The work is at the railroad crossing near the Fredericksburg-Spotsylvania County line. The road is scheduled to close at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2026. It is set to reopen at 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2026.

Lansdowne Road closure schedule and impact

The four-day shutdown is expected to affect through traffic in the Fredericksburg-Spotsylvania area. Lansdowne Road carries an average of 8,300 vehicles per day, National Today reported. Separate detour routes will be posted for passenger vehicles and trucks during the closure.

Detours will be posted for both passenger vehicles and trucks.

Passenger traffic will be directed to:

  • Route 636 (Mine Road)
  • Route 608 (Benchmark Road)
  • Routes 2/17 (Tidewater Trail)

Truck traffic will be routed via:

  • Route 636 (Mine Road)
  • Route 1 (Patriot Highway)
  • Route 1 Business (Lafayette Boulevard)
  • Route 3 (Blue and Gray Parkway)
  • Routes 2/17 (Tidewater Trail)
