FLIRT Evo Replaces Outdated Trains in Switzerland
In 2022, SBB, Thurbo, and RegionAlps signed an agreement with Stadler for train deliveries. The contract covers up to 510 single-deck trains, modernizing the Swiss railway network.
The first confirmed order includes 286 trains, costing CHF 2 billion, with 24 units for RegionAlps. The introduction of these new trains will phase out the aging DOMINO and NINA models.

Enhanced Features and Passenger Comfort in FLIRT Evo
Stadler designed FLIRT Evo to meet high accessibility and modern comfort standards. The train features spacious areas for bicycles, strollers, and luggage, improving passenger convenience.
Advanced air conditioning systems and mobile charging outlets add to the overall travel experience. Additionally, improved mobile signal reception ensures better connectivity for passengers during journeys.
RegionAlps, a subsidiary of SBB, has provided regional transport services in Valais since 2003. The company operates three major routes, facilitating mobility for thousands of daily commuters.
In 2023, RegionAlps transported approximately 11.3 million passengers on its network. The introduction of new electric trains will significantly enhance regional travel experiences.
The first FLIRT Evo was unveiled in November 2024 at an industry presentation. Representatives from SBB, Thurbo, and RegionAlps attended the event to showcase the upgraded fleet.
