AUSTRALIA: G:link will add extra tram services for Pacific Airshow Gold Coast, increasing weekend frequencies as crowds travel to Surfers Paradise from 14 to 16 August 2026.

Weekend G:link frequencies increase for the airshow

According to G:link’s event travel notice, trams will follow the normal Friday timetable on 14 August. The higher-frequency service begins on Saturday 15 August, when trams will run every 7.5 minutes from 8am to 2pm and every 6.5 minutes from 2pm to 7pm.

On Sunday 16 August, trams will again operate every 7.5 minutes between 8am and 2pm. The interval will then shorten to 6.5 minutes until 6pm, one hour earlier than on Saturday.

The Pacific Airshow Gold Coast is scheduled across all three days in a ticketed beachfront precinct opposite Cavill Avenue. Gates are due to open at 9am daily, while flying displays are expected to run from approximately 10am to 3pm; the organisers note that these times remain subject to change.

Fares, tickets and connections to Surfers Paradise

Passengers must have a valid ticket before boarding. A G:link journey costs 50 cents, consistent with the flat fare across the Translink network. Payment options include a contactless Visa or Mastercard, a linked digital wallet, a go card or a paper ticket bought from a station fare machine.

Each traveller using contactless payment needs a separate card or device. The same card, phone or watch must be used to tap on and tap off; otherwise, an additional charge may apply. Paper tickets are valid for one-way travel, and fines apply for travelling without a valid ticket.

Visitors arriving from Brisbane can take a train to Helensvale and transfer to G:link. Drivers can also use the free Park ‘n’ Ride facilities at Helensvale or Parkwood before continuing by tram.
