“This year UZ will receive 20 new sleeping cars – the first of the announced hundred. There are plans to build another 500 in the next two years. These are modern Ukrainian compartment cars, ”Zelensky said.

The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov added that the purchase of 60 suburban trains and 10 passenger Intercity trains is also planned, reports Railway Supply.

In October Ukrzaliznytsia received the first 5 compartment cars out of 100 new passenger cars ordered from the Kryukovsky Railcar Building Plant and purchased at the expense of the state budget. Under the terms of the contract, 20 out of 100 cars ordered must be delivered to JSC Ukrzaliznytsia by the end of 2021.

Earlier, UZ said that in five years the company plans to purchase up to 1,000 new passenger cars.
