In Ukrzaliznytsia, the working fleet of freight cars continues to decline. The biggest drop concerns grain carriers -32.2%.


As of early September, there were 6,545 units left, up from 9,653 units in August 2020, informs Railway Supply magazine citing Railinsider. As of the beginning of September 2021, there were 104,759 units of freight rolling stock in the Ukrzaliznytsia fleet.

Fitch Ratings improves Ukrzaliznytsia’s credit forecast

50 851 (48.5%) wagons are in working order. And a year ago (at the beginning of September 2020) the figure was higher — 56.3%.

As for the most popular wagons, the situation is not very different from the general one.

– gondola cars – 25,586 (a decrease in comparison with the data for August 2020 reached 4.2%);

– grain carriers – 6545 (decrease -32.2%);

– cement carriers – 2807 (decrease -12.9%).
