This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply, citing company statement.

According to the decision, the operator VR Transpoint, which is responsible for cargo transportation, will draw up a plan to reduce traffic. The reduction in volumes will last for several months.

The statement states that the termination of previously concluded contracts should be carried out in the manner specified in the contracts and discussed with customers.

As acting President and CEO of VR Group Topi Simola noted, the company began working on the process of reducing freight traffic in the Russian Federation immediately after the invasion of the aggressor country into the territory of Ukraine.

Recall that Finland completely blocked the movement of trains from the Russian Federation for several days.

However, freight traffic was subsequently restored to “support the export industry” of the Scandinavian country.

At the same time, the press service of VR Group assured that the Finnish railway adheres to all the sanctions adopted by the authorities of different countries.
