RTC CEO Martin Ausserdorfer said the ability to run the same locomotive across borders improves rail integration. He emphasized the corridor’s strategic role in supporting sustainable transport.

Each locomotive provides 6.4 MW of power and reaches speeds of 160 km/h. It supports both freight and high-speed passenger services in countries like Germany, Austria, Italy, Hungary, and the Czech Republic.

These multi-system locomotives eliminate the need for border changes. They comply with requirements in up to 12 countries, including Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, and Croatia, offering unmatched flexibility for operators.

Beyond delivery, Siemens includes Railigent X maintenance, which offers predictive diagnostics and ensures peak reliability across the fleet’s lifecycle.

Bavarian Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter praised the delivery, noting that Bavarian-built machines are key to smoother trans-Alpine logistics. But he also called for faster infrastructure expansion to support growth.

With advanced features and real-time monitoring, this rollout signals a new era in reliable, sustainable freight transportation. Siemens, RTC, and InRail are aligning for smarter European rail.
