The applications related to the modernization of passenger railway platforms and the construction of new stops were opened on January 5, 2020. Several participants have applied for several lots, informs Railway Supply  magazine with reference to the VAS «Latvijas dzelzceļš» website.

Thus, there were six proposals received for the modernization of the passenger infrastructure on the railway lines Riga-Jelgava and Zemitany-Skulte (Kalngale-Skulte), five proposals were received for the modernization of railway platforms on the lines Riga-Krustpils and Zemitani-Skulte (Zemitany-Vecani, near the trade center “Alpha”). Seven proposals were received for the modernization of railway platforms on the Riga – Tukums II line. The procurement commission will start work on the evaluation of tender proposals.

The project provides the complete modernization of the passenger railway infrastructure on the electrified railway lines Riga – Tukums II, Riga – Skulte, Riga – Krustpils and Riga – Jelgava by the end of 2023. Within the framework of the project, new stops will also be built on Silikatu and Slokas Streets (on the Tornakalns – Bolderaja line), Dauderi (on the Zemitani – Skulte line) and near the shopping center “Alpha” (on the Riga – Cesis line).
