UZ provided transportation of the first consignment of coal from Colombia and the USA
JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” successfully transports coal arriving at the Yuzhny seaport from the USA and Colombia.
Imported coal for the sustainable operation of the energy system of Ukraine was delivered by the first of seven contracted vessels. “At present, the second ship with coal is unloading in the port of Yuzhny, and Ukrzaliznytsya will ensure its transportation, as well as the subsequent contracted volumes,” the message says.
In general, in January-November 2021, the carrier increased the transportation of strategically important cargo – coal – by 4.9% compared to the same period in 2020 – up to 45.9 million tons.
During the reporting period, domestic transportation of coal by Ukraine amounted to 26.3 million tons, import transportation – 17.6 million tons, transit – 1.85 million tons.
In November, the volume of coal transported by Ukrzaliznytsia reached 4.3 million tons: 2.4 million tons – within the country, 1.7 million tons – imports, 174 thousand tons – transit.
As previously reported, over 11 months, 287 million tons were transported by the Ukrainian railways. In addition, UZ is preparing to transport 1 million tons of imported coal in December.
