Due to sanctions imposed by the EU, two Russian oil tankers were detained off the Greek island of Euboea.

Detained tankers

This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to interfax.ru.

According to the local edition “Kathimerini”, the Greek Coast Guard detained the Pegasus tanker with 19 Russian sailors near the town of Karist.

The Coast Guard did this as part of a decision by the Money Laundering Authority. They also clarified that the ship was detained, but not its cargo.

According to the newspaper, the Pegasus was heading for the Peloponnese, where the oil was supposed to be reloaded onto another tanker, but was delayed near Carista due to bad weather.

According to the Maritime Bulletin portal, another Russian oil tanker, VF Tanker 2, was also detained near Euboea due to EU sanctions.

On April 17, the ship left the port of Piraeus and headed for the port of the Caucasus, but for some unknown reason ended up in Karista Bay.
