Growing Demand for Trinity Metro Services

TEXRail service, a key operation by Trinity Metro, has witnessed steadily growing passenger demand since its launch in December 2019. The service, connecting Fort Worth to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, has transported over 3 million passengers. Trinity Metro’s decision to add four new Stadler DMUs reflects this demand and future growth projections.

Trinity Metro Enhances Connectivity and Capacity

To meet growing ridership, midday train frequencies have increased to 30-minute intervals, replacing hourly services. The new FLIRT vehicles, scheduled for delivery in 2027, will ensure capacity aligns with rising demand and service expansions. Rich Andreski, Trinity Metro’s President and CEO, emphasized the importance of fleet expansion, highlighting the focus on innovation and future connectivity.

“TEXRail’s success underscores its critical role in North Texas transportation,” Andreski stated. “This fleet expansion ensures today’s needs are met while fostering innovation and economic growth.”

Stadler’s US headquarters, based in Salt Lake City, will handle assembly of the new FLIRT vehicles, continuing a proven production track record. The original TEXRail fleet, also assembled there, has demonstrated reliability with trains surpassing 500,000 operational miles.

Reed Lanham, Trinity Metro’s Vice President of Rail, highlighted the growing ridership and need for maintaining high service standards. He emphasized how the additional trains will accommodate increasing demand while improving customer experience. The TEXRail line, soon extending to the Medical District, is positioned to enhance connectivity and commuter convenience.

Martin Ritter, Stadler US CEO, expressed pride in supporting Trinity Metro’s fleet expansion and emphasized the longstanding partnership. He noted that TEXRail was Stadler’s first complete US assembly project and marked a milestone for their operations.

The fleet upgrade aligns with Trinity Metro’s mission to deliver world-class transit solutions. These investments promise enhanced service quality, regional connectivity, and sustained economic benefits for North Texas.
