Trains for Evolyn have not been ordered yet, Alstom reports
17.10.2023
Alstom has stated that there is currently no contract in place for the supply of high-speed trains to Evolyn, which announced plans to launch a Paris-London service, this is reported by the railway transport news portal, Railway Supply.
Revealing their plans on October 11, Evolyn stated they had “reached an agreement” (though not specifying a firm contract) to acquire 12 high-speed Avelia trains from Alstom, with the option to purchase four more.

Two days later, the manufacturer issued a statement clarifying the situation.
“Alstom and Evolyn have entered into a short-term agreement to continue initial train system design work to accelerate progress if the parties ultimately conclude a contract to purchase and deliver a specific number of trains, subject to Evolyn’s ability to secure project financing,” the statement read.
Alstom added, “Regarding potential future delivery dates for new trains, final delivery dates will be confirmed when a firm and final contract, which will be signed later, is agreed upon.”
Evolyn has expressed hope of commencing its first services in 2025. These are potentially ambitious timelines for a new entrant, particularly considering that certification of train sets will be required to operate on the route, including through the Channel Tunnel.
