An open tender was organized for the repair of the Tighina-Basarabeasca-Giurgiulesti railway section. In 2020, the EBRD and the EIB recognized the Kazakh company as the winner. According to the contractual terms, the company will restore a section of the railway with a length of 233 km in 4 years. After the completion of the project, it will be possible to remove restrictions on weight and speed. For freight trains, the speed of movement will increase to 90 km/h, and for passenger traffic, the speed of trains may increase to 120 km/h. The total cost of the project is about 113 million euros.
