In 2021 the number of working fleet of mainline freight diesel locomotives of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC decreased by 16 units compared to the previous year – to 224.5 diesel locomotives (0.5 units – one section), reports Railway Supply magazine.

At the same time, the number of locomotives in the working fleet of shunting diesel locomotives and mainline electric locomotives increased.

Thus, the number of main freight electric locomotives in the working fleet increased by 48 units – up to 727. Shunting diesel locomotives in the working fleet increased by 37 units – up to 780.

UZ also reported that, according to operational data, as of January 1, 2022, the inventory fleet of locomotives is:

— mainline freight electric locomotives – 1115.5 units;
— mainline freight diesel locomotives – 627.5 units;
— shunting diesel locomotives – 1247 units.

In the working fleet:

— mainline freight electric locomotives – 775 units;
— mainline freight diesel locomotives – 208.5 units;
— shunting diesel locomotives – 817 units.

“The dynamics of the working fleet changes depending on the volume of transportation,” the UZ notes.
