Turkey discussed the growing importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

Trans-Caspian route container traffic

Railway Supply magazine writes about this with reference to the information of the international association “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route”.

There were field meetings of the working group and the general meeting of the Association in the city of Ankara (Turkey).

During the event, the results of work for 2021 were announced. Last year, 25.2 thousand TEU were transported along the TITR route, which is 20% more than in 2020. At the same time, this figure is expected to double this year and reach 50 000 containers.

In addition, cargo transshipment is projected to grow sixfold this year, at the level of 3.2 million tons. This is due to a sharp increase in demand for the TITR route, because it is an alternative to transportation through the territory of the aggressor country.

As previously reported, the Finnish carrier launched a container train bypassing the Russian Federation.
