The Ministry of Infrastructure presented the concept of the rolling stock renewal program in Ukraine.

rolling stock renewal program

According to it, to meet the market demand by 2028, it is necessary to build 31,200 gondola cars (15,300 for UZ) and 14,660 grain carriers (7300 for UZ), reports Railway Supply magazine.

The prerequisites for this are the gradual limitation of the operation of wagons: open-top wagons (up to 22 years) and grain carriers (up to 30 years).

It is expected that in the next 7 years, UZ will finance the car-building industry for UAH 50 billion. More than UAH 50 billion of investments is expected from the private owners.

The market demand for the renewal of rolling stock until 2028 is almost 45,000 wagons.

UZ plans to order 10.9 thousand gondola cars and 3.6 thousand grain carriers at its sites. Also 4.4 thousand gondola cars and 3.7 thousand grain carriers are planned to be ordered from other manufacturers.

As a reminder, on September 30, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov, the second meeting of the Anti-Crisis Headquarters was held to restore the stable functioning of Ukrzaliznytsia. The topic of the meeting was freight transportation and the renewal of the wagon fleet.
