Alstom presented the future design for 201 high-capacity Coradia Stream trains, which it will supply to Renfe in Spain, according to the railway portal Railway Supply, citing Alstom.

Renfe initially ordered 152 units from Alstom in 2021 and then placed an additional order for 49 units in 2022.

The designs of these trains were presented to the Minister of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda of Spain, Raquel Sánchez, and the President of Renfe, Raúl Blanco, during their visit to the Alstom factory in Catalonia.

The new trains will consist of 6 cars, with 4 of them being low-floor and 2 double-decker. This configuration will provide a capacity of over 900 passengers.

In addition, the high-capacity Coradia Stream trains will be equipped with advanced technology to enhance reliability and punctuality. For example, real-time data collection and information will enable more efficient decision-making.

The first three of these trains are already being manufactured by Alstom even before the validation and certification processes begin in 2024.

Serial production of the remaining 198 units will start thereafter, with Alstom planning to deliver 3 to 4 trains to Renfe per month.

The production contract is valued at 1.8 billion euros, including the supply of spare parts and technical maintenance for 56 trains over a 15-year period.
